Artist's Comments

Last time my buddy :iconfourpanelhero: was over we prompted each other to draw something, and he asked for the X-Factor era Beast and Jean Grey. Knowing full well that it's my favorite Beast uniform I jumped in on it, and ended up adding a Cyclops in the back for good measure.

I've got this one posted step by step for those who were interested:
Step One:[link]
Step Two:[link]

And this is the final. Going from step two I use the "multiply" setting on the brush and color over everything. I'll go in later with the "soft light" brush and add a few highlights, but not many. There's also a gradient around Cyclops' head, but I almost never use those. That's about it.

it was good to see the process. I also really like the image. I have always really hated Cyclops, the way he looks, or the way he is written always just put me off to the character. But I have to tell you, this is a really good version of him. I think it may have something to do with the two red eyes behind his eye covering device thing.
:icondocshaner:
He is terribly written most of the time, I'll give you that. I like the look of him, but he's not necessarily my favorite or anything. For whatever reason I didn't feel like drawing Angel or Iceman.

now see, that would be nice to see, your use of form and the way you craft faces, I think your iceman would come out epic. But I think you created a strong balance in this image, it holds itself together very well.

I do want to do something with Iceman soon, I love the character.

I know, he is so under used these days. They have him as this childish anti social teenager, sure it sells books because some people like that sad emotional heart broken type. But really the good old days, when the world was fun and pulp and humor and high adventure ruled was so much better.

WOW! This is really excellent.

Nice!! And thanks for the step by step.
