Alright, closed the poll, thanks to everybody who helped out.  I should have the cards done soon, and you'll see who won.  I figure you've probably got a pretty good idea who did win, but I digress.  I will admit I was half surprised.

Just got one more favor to ask of you folks.  I'm working up one more print for Mid-Ohio Con, and have decided on classic Avengers.  Of course, this will include Cap, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Giant Man, and Wasp, but I'm wondering whether I should include any more.  I'll admit I'm not exactly well versed in Avengers lore.  I figured if I put anybody else in it'll be Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, and Quicksilver; the second generation.  But at that point I worry about getting threats of "Why didn't you put in Vision or Wonder Man or Beast or bleh blah blee bloo?!"  I made the last one up.

Of course, I'm wondering about which Iron Man to put in, I'd prefer the finhead armor.  Thor will be classic Thor.

Wanted to get an opinion from you guys.  I want to start in the next day or so, so just let me know what you think.  Thanks in advance.

For what it's worth, I'm rooting for the classic 70's-80's red and gold Iron Man. And on the Avengers front, Hercules. my favorite run on Avengers was in the mid 80's when John Buscema was doing layout/pencilling. The storyline where their arch villains (The Brotherhood of Evil, I think) overthrew Avengers Mansion, and the Black Knight was beaten and bound and forced to watch Mister Hyde wail on Jarvis...that was some intense stuff. Hercules figured in largely to that, plus he had a cool headpiece which I wouldn't so much call a helmet. It looked a bit like the American Gladiator head protection. Anyway, it's from circa 1986/1987 if you're interested.

I want to read that story, if nothing else than for the Buscema, THE BUSCEMA! And poor Jarvis. I think I am going to stick with 'ol classic red and gold Iron Man, wanted to go with the most iconic versions of each character. You better believe Hulk's gonna have a little of the Buscema flair. This reply has quickly turned into a Buscema love letter. Dang.

And Hercules! See there's a character I want to know more about.

Yeah, he first appeared in comics in the 70's, and I think he was being tailored to be a more roguish Thor. He was all about drinking and fighting. In fact, in that issue I'd mentioned, it starts off with him in a bar, and this dude starts razzing him about Herc being bossed around by a woman (The Wasp has been leader of The Avengers at the time), so Herc knocks him through a wall and into an oncoming truck. Of course the guy survives the belt and walks away to his stashed vehicle...it turns out he was The Wrecker (I think that was his name) who was in the gang of baddies and he was razzing Herc for a reason. Anyway, great book. The cover was a very sketchy drawing of The Black Knight by Buscema framed by all the main Marvel characters, as were all books that year since it was Marvel's 25th anniversary. You need to check it out.

I do indeed. I want to get my hands on a couple of those Avengers Hardcover Archives. Wrecker getting his ass handed to him is good any day of the week.

Y'know another good Marvel comics barroom brawl? It was from an issue of Uncanny X-Men, where Wolverine is pissed at Colossus because he cheated on Kitty priyde, so Logan and Nightcrawler take Peter to a bar to chew his ass out. Peter gets drunk and accidentally knocks a guy's beer out of his hand, and the guy turns out to be an out-of-costume Juggernaut. It was some of John Rimita Jr.'s earliest work and it totally rules. it's from around 1984 or 85 if you want to look for it. Great, great fight scenes. Juggy clobbers Colossus with the bar. Not A bar, THE BAR!!!

Now that one I know I've seen! Greatness from cover to cover.

Jay, we should have an internet place where we geek out about old comics.

Ironman finhead helmet, the original 5 are fine I dont see a reason to add to it unless you wanted too because you had mentioned you wanted to do the founding characters and Captain America. :)
